How to register a domain name

When you register for your domain name, the minimum contract term is for 12 months be it a genetic domain name or a Singapore domain name. The fee is not refundable and does not include a web hosting plan.

There are three main tasks you need to do or consider when you register for a domain name:

  2. Check the Availability of the Domain Name
  3. Register the Domain Name

 

Task 1

 

Decide on a Domain Name

Before you register for a domain name, you first need to decide on a domain name for your business or personal website. Should you go for a generic domain name like a .com or a SIngapore domain name like a .com.sg?

Task 2

 

Check the Availability of the Domain Name

When you have decided on a domain name, you can first check for its availablilty, that is, if it is still available for registration, or you can just proceed to [ register ] for it. During the registration process you will be informed if the domain name you want is available. Task 3

 

Register the Domain Name

You have decided on the domain name and it is available. Here is what you will need handy to register the domain name:

  1. A username (userid).
  2. A password.
  3. The name of registrant, it can be your company name or an individual person.
  4. Your business (ROC) registration number if you are registering for a .com.sg domain name.
  5. A valid email.
  6. Your credit card details.
